this is some shit i would say
(from WOMEN IN LOVE by the master ken russell. excellent film~)

In Germany, health insurance is statutory. You gotta have it. And so saying, I do indeed have it, and it is a beautiful thing. Last month I went to the dentist and had my teeth cleaned and an ancient filling replaced (in English!) for a grand total of $0 (zero dollars). You just show the receptionist your health insurance card and walk out the door. You never see a bill. Even things like chiropractors and massages are covered. And if you need to see a specialist like a dermatologist or a neurologist, you don’t have to waste time getting a referral from your GP . . . you just go. Let’s hear it for socialized healthcare.
Anyway: They asked me for a photo for my card, and this is what I sent them. I took it myself while standing against my front door to fulfill the “standing against a neutral background” requirement. I look like a greasy creep, but then what else is new . . .

Monty’s mom sent this to her earlier tonight . . . this is me cradling my nephew sweet Bilbo. Around Christmas I flew to Portland to watch him while Monty and her family drove up to Boise to scope it out. They wanted to get out of Portland and did! They now live in Boise. Though yeah: that weekend, Bilbo and I got stoned and hung out by the fireplace watching movies about medieval knights, a theme I had chosen arbitrarily. When I ran out of those, I watched a bunch of swashbuckling movies. It ruled.
I also discovered Bilbo is partially deaf?? Monty somehow did not know this before. I kept accidentally sneaking up on him . . . he didn’t know I was in the room until I got right up on him and touched him. This also explains why he has a strange / cute meow—the dude can’t hear himself!
I’ll see him again in a few weeks when I’m in New York City. I think more than anything, the thought of seeing Bilbo is what compels me to lurch further into the darkness of the future.
GET BONUS: Here is a picture of me holding my friend Logan’s parents’ black cat back in Detroit a few years ago. Her mom had said, “She never lets anyone hold her.” Sorry everyone, but your cats love me!

Man . . . ARMY OF DARKNESS definitely has some of the best movie posters ever. These rule!
Some more of my favz:

ANYWAY: I usually watch ARMY OF DARKNESS every Halloween, but it’s been a while . . . I will resist my strong urge to rewatch it now and wait till Halloween. Yeah dude . . .

found this ancient (pre-dark mode) screenshot of a conversation between amy and me . . . hey, what we’re talking about will always remain true . . .
i miss amy a lot. i texted her for the first time in a long time last fall when i was in los angeles. i told her i’d heard “burnin’ for you” on the radio and it reminded me of her . . . she was always playing it. to my surprise she responded pretty much right away saying she is a lawyer now, which is the last thing i ever thought she’d be. maybe i’m reading into it but she showed no real interest in seeing me again. well, what can you do
at least at the end of it there’s still cigarettes and candy bars

she hates me!
